Inscribed - Impression
A pictograph like this one is called proto-cuneiform. It was drawn in the clay with a pointed object.
The impressions were a form of writing. Writing was developed from pictures and impressions. Cuneiform actually means wedged shaped. Clay was used to make the tablet. Drawing in the wet clay with a sharp object made the impressions. Some of the impressions are very deep.
The tablet was then dried.
You will be pressing objects in clay to create a textured picture.
