I want to say a few words about pencils. Have you ever had that pencil from a holiday give back that barely makes a mark and the eraser just smears the drawing? Those pencils!! In the art supply world ... not good at all. They are really not good except for looking pretty. The pencil I like and so do my students is the Ticonderoga pencil. It blends well and erases well. Those two criteria seem to be the most important to my students. The Ticonderoga pencil gives me the least trouble.
I have said it may times... Art supplies can make the art experience terrible or joyous! Using art supplies that don't work well can frustrate the learner and ruin the fun. There are a wide range of supplies available for the beginner to the professional. I am picking the best inexpensive supply for children or beginner artist. You will find your favorites as you use the supplies and test out new ones. Art requires a good pencil to start. I will talk more about drawing pencils because I love them... I have too many! More on that later. Happy creating, Ms. Jen
